Gordon Johnston
Gordon is Managing Director and has driven the growth and diversification of services available to clients. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992 and is also a licensed insolvency practitioner. Gordon's strong commercial background enables him to provide a full business solution to clients, including business planning and business recovery programmes.
Gareth Stokes
Gareth is head of the General Accountancy Practice, and also has responsibility for our Information Communications Technology service. Gareth qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992, and specialises in providing corporate advice to owners of small and medium sized companies, in a variety of business sectors.
Stephen Hunt
Stephen qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1975 and has a wealth of experience working in the local business community. He works with a broad range of companies, helping them to develop their businesses, and achieve their individual goals. Stephen has helped many owner-managed businesses to develop a strategic plan, and then guided them through the successful implementation of the plan.
Julian Sims
Julian is our Tax Director, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1991 and a Chartered Tax Advisor in 1992. In 2008 he also gained a law degree. Julian's strong technical background is a key factor in ensuring that clients receive excellent all-round advice.
Angie Trainor
Angie is our Audit Director, and heads up the Audit and Accounts department. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1995, and manages a portfolio of company clients. In addition to her technical role, Angie has responsibility for the training and development of hjs staff.
Alan Ponting
Alan is Director of Business Services. Having qualified in 1991, Alan spent a period in accountancy practice, followed by four years in industry, before joining hjs. This industry experience has proved particularly valuable when assisting clients with their own business issues.
Mark Rogers
Mark is Director of Audit and Accounts. He has over twenty years experience of advising owner-managed businesses in accountancy and tax matters. Having a keen commercial bias, Mark has been instrumental in assisting clients achieve their strategic goals.
Shane Biddlecombe
Shane is Director of Business Recovery & Insolvency. He is a licensed Insolvency Practitioner with over 20 years experience in insolvency matters. His area of expertise is helping businesses in financial difficulty develop a strategy for future survival. Shane joined hjs in 2004 and works with companies across the whole of the UK.
Stephen Powell
Stephen is Director of Business Recovery and Insolvency, and has been dealing with a broad range of troubled businesses since 1996. He qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2003, and as an Insolvency Practitioner in 2006. Stephen's extensive knowledge of this field enables him to provide effective practical solutions to struggling businesses.
